About
About the Tranning Program
The "Three-Day Executive Training Programme on Python" is designed to provide research scholars and faculty members in Mathematics with essential programming skills and applied computational techniques using Python. This hybrid-mode program aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application through a structured curriculum focused on real-world mathematical problems.
Participants will begin with an introduction to basic Python programming, including syntax, control structures, and functions, specially tailored for beginners in programming. The sessions will gradually progress to numerical computation using libraries such as NumPy and SciPy, enabling participants to perform matrix operations, solve equations, and perform numerical integration and differentiation.
The training will also include a primer on optimisation techniques, introducing mathematical modelling and optimisation tools available in Python. In addition, participants will learn how to visualise data and mathematical functions using Matplotlib and gain a basic understanding of data analysis techniques.
Each day will consist of interactive lectures (3 hours) and hands-on practical sessions (1 hour), allowing participants to apply what they have learned immediately.
Outcome of the Program:
Participants will:
(a) Develop basic to intermediate coding skills in Python
(b) Gain hands-on experience with mathematical problem-solving
(c) Be able to use Python in teaching and research activities
The Academy
The Sridharacharya Academy of Mathematical Sciences (SAAMS) is a registered professional organisation established in 2024 in honour of Sridharacharya, a renowned Indian mathematician, known for his two surviving works on arithmetic and practical mathematics, Pāṭīgaṇita and Pāṭīgaṇita-sāra, and a now-lost treatise on algebra, Bījagaṇita. SAAMS is dedicated to advancing active and high-quality research in various branches of mathematics and fostering intellectual and cultural development. The academy has nurtured a vibrant research culture among mathematicians in India.
SAAMS is committed to promoting mathematical research that has real-world applications. The organisation believes in the power of mathematics to solve complex problems and drive innovation in various fields such as technology, engineering, economics, and social sciences. By fostering creativity and critical thinking, SAAMS aims to expand the possibilities in mathematical research:
OBJECTIVES of the ACADEMY:
(a) To encourage and promote research in the form of workshops, seminars, and conferences.
(b) To write, compile, and publish journals, books, and reports in mathematical sciences.
(c) To promote mathematical study in schools.
(d) To provide awards to distinguished persons in different categories.
(e) To provide certificates to scientists in a globally recognised database.
(f) To establish a forum among researchers of mathematical sciences to exchange ideas through regular periodic meetings.
(g) To organise seminars on career counselling.
(h) To involve and support social work directly.
(i) To connect with faculty related to mathematical sciences globally.
